Not only were there no overnight shifts for our 24-hour operation, there was no mention on the bid about which shifts were to be ticket shifts and which were to be voice (i.e., phone calls) shifts. The latest shift available to me starts at 1:30 PM. There isn’t even an option to bid on an overnight shift. I was assured I probably wouldn’t have much to worry about concerning remaining on overnights. Having a new supervisor is only the tip of the iceberg though.Īs I wrote about at length a few days back, the new shift bid is upon us. Sunday morning, however, marked his final moments as my supervisor and his replacement-at least for the next several weeks-is a man with no sense of humor or any trace of a personality. He turned out to be the best supervisor I’ve had in any role at any company. I dreaded the awkwardness of having a Micro Center cashier as my direct supervisor. I was initially concerned at the beginning of the year about the fact that my new supervisor was a former coworker from my Micro Center days. The job I’ve been doing for the past several months is about to become unrecognizable from the job I will be doing mere weeks from now.
